A STEEL DOOR MIGHT HAVE STOPPED THIS BURGLARY

A steel door or expanding grille may have helped stop the Geraldine Archery Club burglary.

A Canterbury archery club was left with a $7,000 hole in their pocket after the theft of their bows and arrows. We feel a steel door or second layer of security like an expanding grille might have prevented the crime.

 

The incident

Thieves took $7000 worth of equipment from the Geraldine Archery Club, located on the grounds of Orari Racecourse. The thieves broke a padlocked gate to enter the grounds, smashed a window, broke a combination lock and even damaged a double bolted door. Unfortunately, the club didn’t have an insurance cover.
